  I'm only giving Dr. Carmichael one star because that's the lowest rating possible. I saw Dr. Carmichael in September after my 2 year old son injured his arm. While the nurses, receptionists and resident doctor were great, Dr. Carmichael was the furthest thing from wonderful. After waiting for our X-ray results, he came in, never introduced himself to my husband or myself, simply said (without even looking at us) "He has a break and needs a cast. Come with me." And left the room. We never were told who this man was, where our sons break was located, never saw an X-ray and wasn't asked if we had questions and wasn't told the plan of action for my sons care. While walking to the casting room, my TWO year old son was crying, and Dr. Carmichael looked at him and said "Stop crying. There's nothing wrong with you." THAT was the WHOLE extent of our interaction with him. He didn't even tell the nurse who was putting my sons cast on where his break was! And after the cast, we asked to see the X-rays and we couldn't have been more treated like a bother to him. Thankfully his resident showed us the X-ray of my sons broken elbow. After searching the UTMB website to figure out who this doctor was (because again, he nor anyone else told us his name.) I read the reviews other patients had left and they too had similar experiences. I would NOT recommend Dr Carmichael.

  I have been going to Dr Carmichael's office now for about 7 months. My daughter was born with a clubbed foot. The office staff is ALWAYS friendly and the wait is never too long. Whenever I have questions, Dr Carmichael always takes the time to answer them. He is very up front and honest.
